Powell English Testing

If you are taking the test for the first time, select "First Attempt". If you have taken the test before, select "Retest".  Only select "Proctoring Centre Retest" if you've been specifically instructed to do so by Powell English Testing.

Please note that there is no required waiting period between the first attempt and the second. However, if you would like to take the test for a third time, you must wait three months and write the test in a supervised testing centre. If you would like to take the test for a fourth time, you must wait six months, and write in a testing centre.  After that, you must wait a year between each test, and you must write in a testing centre.

Your login information will be valid for 90 days.

Photo Identification Upload

Some examples of photo identification include a driver's license, passport, status card, or BC ID card. Please take a close-up photo of your ID. Do not include yourself in the photo. Ensure that your picture and birth date can be seen clearly. You can cover up any other information if you wish. The photo may be shared with your academic institution to confirm your identity.

If the identification provided does not match the individual taking the test, or if the examinee is found to have committed any form of identity fraud, a passing score cannot be achieved. If the examinee would have otherwise passed the test, results will not be sent. If the examinee did not achieve a passing score, test results will be sent. Either way, test fees will not be refunded or applied towards a retest. The examinee will be permitted to retake the test. They will need to pay and register again. They will also be charged an extended service fee of $50. The test must be taken at an approved proctoring centre, and the examinee is required to bring their own laptop with the ProctorFree application pre-installed. The proctoring centre will also charge a fee. It is not guaranteed that there will be an approved proctoring centre in every region.

If you have not signed in to Moodle, a refund can be requested within 14 days of sending payment. As we incur some fees as soon as payments are made, a $15 administration fee will apply to any refund. If it's been more than 14 days, you may request a 50% refund. If you've signed in to Moodle, but you don't wish to write the test, you may request a 50% refund. If your test access is expired, a refund is not available. If you've opened the test and/or the ProctorFree application, a refund is not available. If you've been accused of academic dishonesty, a refund is not available.

Causes and Consequences of Academic Dishonesty

No form of spell checking and/or grammar checking in any language is permitted during the test. This includes spell checkers that are built into your computer and/or Internet browser as well as downloaded applications such as Grammarly.  It does not matter if the tool is actively used or not. It is the test-taker's responsibility to turn off all spell-checking devices before beginning the test.  If any words are underlined in red during the test, a passing score cannot be achieved. Predictive text suggests words or phrases based on what has been typed. If word suggestions are given during the test, a passing score cannot be achieved.
